We’re thrilled to introduce Quinn as our Mentor of the Month! Not only are they an incredible mentor, but they’re also a gaming nerd, a creative powerhouse, and an Uno champion (more on that later!).
For Quinn, mentorship is deeply personal. Growing up as a queer person, they often wished for a positive older queer figure to help navigate the complexities of being a 2SLGBTQIAP+ teen. Through PRISM, they found the perfect opportunity to become that person for youth.
Since becoming a mentor, Quinn has built incredible connections with inspiring young people. “I have made amazing connections with some inspiring and outstanding young people. That has been so fulfilling,” they say. “It’s hard to put it into words, but the impact has been immensely positive.”
Outside of mentorship, Quinn is a self-proclaimed gaming nerd, always ready for an adventure in the digital world. They also love engaging in creative activities, with jewelry making ranking as their favourite so far.
And now, about that Uno game… One of Quinn’s most memorable moments as a mentor came from an unexpected yet epic showdown. What started as a casual card game turned into an intense battle that lasted the entire session—just one game, stretched out over an unforgettable period of strategy, laughter, and friendly competition. “It was amazing, we had a great time!” Quinn recalls. It’s these small but meaningful moments that make mentorship so special.
Beyond what they’ve given as a mentor, Quinn has also learned a lot from their mentees. They’ve come to appreciate that it’s okay to not feel great all the time—that life doesn’t always need to be perfectly planned or controlled. Instead, they’ve learned to take things as they come and go with the flow a little more.
For anyone considering becoming a mentor, Quinn has simple but encouraging advice: “If you are curious, reach out for some info through BBBSO. Maybe it’ll be right for you!”
We’re so lucky to have mentors like Quinn making a difference every day. Thank you, Quinn, for all that you do!
