Big Brothers Big Sisters raised $595 in donations through the sale t-shirts and bracelets through Be You events. This initiative, in partnership with Morguard and St. Laurent Shopping Centre, focused on empowering young girls and increasing their self-esteem, personal growth and self-worth through interactive activities, workshops and presentations.
Over 50% of all girls say they wish they were someone else. Almost half a million girls have posted YouTuve videos of them asking “Am I pretty or am I ugly?” It’s time for us to change this. – Be You Movement
Morguard, one of North America’s major real estate and property management companies has teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada to implement the Be You Campaign. This nation-wide campaign is designed to provide young females better access to developmental tools that will help increase self-esteem, personal growth, self-worth and empower young women who are coming of age in a media and technology driven time.
The campaign in partnership with BBBSO will run from Thursday September 29th to Saturday October 1st, 2016 at St. Laurent Centre in the Center Court. Each day the campaign will have a special focus with interactive elements and community leaders who encourage girls to celebrate their individuality.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa will be on-site throughout all three event days – so be sure to come by and say hi.
