Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend
May 24–25, 2025

MAKE YOUR RUN REALLY COUNT THIS YEAR.

JOIN THE BBBSO RUNNING TEAM!

Join us! Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa is proud to invite you to join the BBBSO Running Team in this year’s Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, taking place May 24–25, 2025. We have put a lot of energy into this year’s event, as we aim to build a real team together and make it our best year yet, for both fundraising and fun!

STEP 1: REGISTER TO RUN IN RACE WEEKEND

If you have not yet registered to run, you can learn all about Race Weekend here, and then register right here: https://www.letsdothis.com/ca/checkout/ticket?eventId=234971&preferred=true&utm_organiser_id=176436

Please remember that runners of all skill levels are welcome and encouraged! There are options for families and true beginners, as follows:

Sat., May 24, 2025: 2:00 PM—Ottawa Kids Marathon

Sat., May 24, 2025: 3:00 PM—Ottawa 2K

Sat., May 24, 2025: 4:00 PM—Ottawa 5K

Sat., May 24, 2025: 6:30 PM—Ottawa 10K presented by Otto’s Ottawa

Sun., May 25, 2025; 7:00 AM—Tartan Ottawa International Marathon

Sun., May 25, 2025: 8:30 AM—Ottawa Half Marathon presented by Desjardins

STEP 2: REGISTER TO JOIN OUR TEAM & FUNDRAISE FOR RACE WEEKEND

If you have already registered to run in Race Weekend as described in Step 1, your next step is to separately register to join our team and fundraise, right here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/bbbso2025—Simply click the big orange START FUNDRAISING button!

Follow the prompts to create your JustGiving account and set up your personal fundraising page and goal. We are encouraging each of our runners to raise $1000. While this may sound daunting at first read, from experience we can tell you that it’s quite achievable with the tips and online tools you’ll gain access to, and we’re here to help show you how to get there!

Consider that asking 20 friends and family members for $50 gets you to that target—not so bad, right?

$1000 is also the estimated cost for our charity to support a match between a mentee and mentor for one year, so you’ll be directly changing the life of a young individual growing up in our city for the year ahead through your efforts. It’s real and impactful stuff, and you should feel good about the change you’re going to make happen in a young person’s life.

FUNDRAISING INCENTIVES

To help inspire you and make this year exciting, we’ve got some great new incentives happening for the team! As you fundraise, keep pushing towards these goals to “unlock” new benefits:

  • $500—A free registration in next year’s race, thanks to Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend!
  • $750—A beautiful and bright BBBSO Team Running Shirt, new for 2025, thanks to The Oscar Project!
  • $1000—Your entry to celebrate with the team at our expanded Champagne Celebration Patio Party, thanks to Fratelli Westboro in Westboro Village!

There will also be special prizes for our top three fundraisers!

BIG THANKS TO THE OSCAR PROJECT!

Thanks to the generous hearts at The Oscar Project, BBBSO is going to have beautiful custom running shirts for the first time! We’re very excited and deeply grateful to their entire team for the enthusiasm they have shown us. Their support means we can grow our team, raise more funds, and help more youth facing adversity in our city. Bravo!

The Oscar Project is an Ottawa company that is all about smart recycling of electronics with secure data destruction — phones, tablets, laptops, and hard drives. Discover what they have to offer at TheOscarProject.ca!

QUESTIONS?

If you have any questions at all, please email [email protected] or call him on his cell at 613-325-0555. The goal is to make this fun and easy for you, so we can all celebrate an exciting fundraising total at the end. The more we raise together, the more youth we can help onto the path of a brighter future.

Thank you so much for joining us this year—our team is excited to welcome you!
