We deeply respect and affirm the identities of all volunteers, including those in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community who may use a name different from their legal one. We recognize that names are a vital part of identity, and we honor the importance of being called and known as who you truly are.
At the same time, to fulfill legal requirements for Vulnerable Sector Police Checks, we must use the name listed on government-issued identification. This process is in place to ensure the safety of the communities we serve, while also meeting the legal standards required for background screening. Please know that this requirement is not a reflection of who you are but rather a procedural necessity.
We understand that this may be a sensitive process, and we are committed to handling it with care, privacy, and respect. If you have any concerns or need support through this step, we encourage you to reach out. Your safety, dignity, and inclusion matter to us, and we are here to ensure this process is as affirming and smooth as possible.
